Direct Bus Phuket-Lanta

Locals are happy to hear about the new transportation option for tourists in Phuket traveling to Lanta. The new direct minibus was started a few months back by Southern Transport, a respected VIP bus operator.

Any private transport initiative like this is welcome as local tourist authorities seem determined to undermine Lanta hotel operators who have some 4,000 rooms to fill every day. Last high season, in a move that defies all logic, one of the two daily passenger ferry boats from Krabi Town was canceled putting an added strain on the already weak car ferry link from the Krabi mainland to Koh Lanta.

The inexpensive (213 THB) shuttle between Lanta and Phuket leave daily every hour from the main bus station in Phuket Town from 7:30 till 14:30 and from their Klong Dao depot on Lanta from 6:30 -15:30. Travelers must find their way to these departing locations because the minivans are not permitted to pick up guests from other locations.
